TOPIC: On June 25 (2022), President Biden signed into law the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act of 2022. It is the first major legislation passed by the U.S. Congress in nearly 30 years that deals with firearms, colloquially known as “gun legislation.”

The Bipartisan Safer Communities Act is controversial because in the U.S., “gun legislation” evokes strong opinions on both sides of the issue. For some people, “gun legislation” is an automatic bad, without even knowing what’s it about. Others think it is an automatic good, also without necessarily knowing what it is about. I want you to make an honest effort to review the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act to find out exactly what it does, and then decide “I like it” for these reasons, or “I don’t like it” for these reasons. Don’t just love it because some organization says it’s great, or hate it because some organization says it’s horrible.
