The improvements and modifications that have taken place in our society have molded us as contemporary individuals. New methods of thinking, living, and working have been influenced by these changes, and they have both beneficial and harmful effects.
Technological progress is one of the aspects of modernity that I value the most. Our lives have become simpler and more easy because to technology, which enables us to communicate with people around the world, instantly access information, and complete jobs more effectively. The advancements made in social justice and equality are another facet of modernity that I respect. Gender, racial, and LGBTQ+ equality have made enormous progress, and these movements have prepared the path for a society that is more just and inclusive.
Modernity has, however, also developed certain undesirable traits. One of these is the pervasiveness of materialism and the preference for material stuff above worthwhile relationships and experiences. The frantic pace of modern life can also cause stress and burnout, and the constant barrage of stimulus and information can be exhausting.
There are numerous causes for why some people or groups may oppose becoming “modern.” Cultural or religious ideas that are at contrast with current standards of behavior could be one of the causes. Others could worry about losing their traditional ways of life or feel left out of the advantages of modernity. Additionally, some people could oppose modernity because of its drawbacks, such as income inequality or environmental deterioration.
As modern people, we must weigh the advantages and disadvantages of modernity and work to strike a balance between advancement and preservation. Although there are aspects of modernity that I appreciate and others that I find objectionable, it is crucial to understand that everyone of us different viewpoints is influenced by our particular experiences and beliefs.
