ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS:
Assignment: Journal/Report
This journal assignment will provide you with a working knowledge of the logistical challenges associated with international trade that you have gained throughout the course. A large number of American companies in retail and many other sectors of the economy import many products from foreign countries, such as China, India, Chile, and Mexico. It is essential that as business students and potential future business practitioners, you understand how those products are transported from their point of origin to their final destination.
There are two parts to this assignment. You must complete both parts to receive full credit.
Part 1: For the first part, write a brief synopsis of our entire course in less than 500 words (the holistic view of global logistics). Make sure that you provide references.
Part 2: For the second part, answer the list of 50 questions provided in the document attached to this assignment. The questions are related to the various chapters in the textbook. Students must complete ALL 50 questions to receive full credit.
The word count of each of the 50 questions should be between 150-200 words.
Make sure that each question is enumerated and delineated. We will not accept submissions that are not in the format of question, answer, reference,…, question, answer, reference, etc, for all 50 questions.
Provide references for each answer after each response (not at the end of the submission). Students must use multiple sources (not just the textbook). You must cite your references using APA style. The book should NOT be the only resource that is needed to answer the questions.
Evaluation Criteria – Make sure to view the grading rubric!
Some common questions that I get:
1. Does every single answer require a citation/reference? Or is there a specific number of references you would like us to aim for? Yes, every single answer requires a citation/reference. There is not a specific number of references that we are aiming for. Some questions will require several references and some will require fewer.
2. Do you want the reference citation to be below the question? Or more like a scholarly paper where the citation is enumerated and all of the references are at the end of the paper? Yes, each question should be numbered, and the response is given, with the references directly under the question (not at the end of the submission).
3. Where can I find additional supporting resources? There are several logistics and supply chain resources such as blogs (Supply Chain 24/7, supply chain digital, logistics viewpoints, supply chain matters, MIT supply chain), newsletters such as the wall street journal logistics report, and more. Please see https://www.lucasware.com/top-38-resources-for-logistics-and-supply-chain-professionals/Links to an external site. for more resources.
3. Can I go over 200 words to answer a question? Try to keep responses between 150-200 words. You can go over 200 words on some questions if needed.

HOW TO WORK ON THIS ASSIGNMENT (EXAMPLE ESSAY / DRAFT)
The international trade logistics course has given me a thorough awareness of the problems and solutions related to cross-border shipping. Transportation methods, freight forwarding, customs clearance, documentation needs, trade agreements, and logistics network architecture were only a few of the topics covered in the course. The need for supply chain transparency and stakeholder participation to improve logistics performance was underlined in the course.
The complexity of logistics in international trade is among the most important lessons learned from the course. Multiple parties, each with their own rules and standards, including shippers, carriers, brokers, and customs authorities, are involved in the logistics process. The training emphasized the significance of adhering to international trade laws and the negative effects of doing so.
The importance of technology in improving logistics efficiency and visibility is another significant topic covered in the course. The workshop covered a variety of technologies, including blockchain, visibility platforms, and transportation management systems, which may be used to boost logistics efficiency and cut costs.
Overall, the course gave students a thorough awareness of the problems and solutions related to logistics for international trade. The importance of cooperation, compliance, and technology in establishing efficient and successful logistics performance was emphasized in the course.
